I’m in love with this tutorial for a few reasons. 1. It’s super simple and something truly ANYONE can do. and 2. It’s SO pretty and the perfect way to hang posters without using typical frames. I’ve had this poster lying around my house for an embarrassingly long period of time, probably two-ish years, and now I FINALLY got around to actually completing the project and hanging it in our kitchen.
Here are the supplies you will need:
Any kind of string or yarn to hang the poster with.
Wooden beads (optional)
Miter saw (if you are cutting the wood yourself)
1/8th inch wood of any kind (I used Oak and found it at Home Depot)
Step 1 Cut the Wood to Preferred Size
I began by cutting the wood to the size I wanted. I like it a little overlapping the poster. If you don’t have a miter saw of your own, you can have Home Depot or Lowes cut the wood for you. You will just need to know the size you want before you buy the wood. I cut the wood myself because 1. I’m not a detailed oriented person and I didn’t measure the poster before I bought the wood and 2. I’m also indecisive and wasn’t sure how long I wanted the wood to be anyway.
Step 2. Attach the String to the Wood
I then tied the string to each end of the wood. If the string is not staying well you can staple the string to the wood but I didn’t have any problems. The length of the string is completely up to you, where you want to hang the poster etc.
Step 3. (Optional) String Beads
Attaching beads to your poster is completely optional. I happened to have a bunch of wooden beads and I thought it would be a cute little added touch. You can add more then one but I thought one on each end was the perfect addition to my project.
Step 4. Attach the Wood to the Bottom and Top of the Poster
I love this poster so I didn’t want to put holes in it by stapling it or anything like that. All I used was regular scotch tape to attach the wood to the bottom and the top and it works perfectly!
I hope you enjoy this project, don’t hesitate to comment or message me with any questions you may have!
